An Inside Passage cruise takes you along the southwest coast of Alaska sailing through a 500-mile stretch of water which weaves in between thousands of islands, coves, and fjords known simply as Alaska's Inside Passage. As you sail along between ports you will be able fo view enourmolus glaciers as they make their way very slowly down the mountains into the Pacific Ocean.
Juneau is one of the cruise ports and also the capital of Alaska. In this area you can view wildlife such as bald eagles, seals, and humpback whales. Juneau is also home to Mendenhall Glacier, which may be viewed from above via helicopter ride shore excursion.
You will also visit the town of Skagway which will transport you back to the Gold Rush era of the late 19th century. The downtown area is filled with quaint, frontier-style shops. Skagway also offers Inside Passage cruisers a wide array of activities, including horseback expeditions, climbing lessons, fishing charters, and adventures along the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad.
Most Inside Passage cruises will also make a stop in the city of Ketchikan. Nicknamed "Alaska's First City," Ketchikan is generally one of the first destinations on an Inside Passage cruise itinerary. It's home to some great shopping and dining as well as Tongass Rainforest, the largest temperate rainforest in the world.
Inside Passage cruises often sail past Hubbard Glacier, the largest tidewater glacier in America. You may be lucky enough to catch some huge chunks of ice breaking off into the bay.
Inside passage cruises are generally 7 nights sailing round trip from Seattle or Vancouver. There are a few cruise lines that offer more than 7 nights.
